But at least we can try to replicate her lush locks with these eight simple tips for getting more volume!

1. Use a Volume Boosting Shampoo & Conditioner

The first step on your body-seeking mission is to chuck out any cheap and nasty shampoo that will weigh your hair down, and replace it with a quality prod specially designed to add volume. Look for lightweight and clarifying formulations that will remove icky product build up while simultaneously plumping your strands.

2. Spritz Your Roots

Using a spray directly on the roots before blow drying is essential for long-lasting bounce and movement.

3. Nail Your Blow Dry

The aim with limp, fine hair is to get maximum root lift. And this begins with blow dry technique. While some will wax lyrical about the benefits of blow drying hair upside down (by flipping the head), others will swear by the volumising power of a round brush. The split is also popular: blasting hair upside down (do this until around 80% dry), then finishing with a round brush for a smooth, swishy do.

4. Go Old School with Rollers

Nanna’s favourite hot rollers are making a big comeback, due to the amazing bounce and volume they create! Velcro rollers are another simple option that give gorgeous volume and movement, rather than actual curl. As they’re used while you blow dry, velcro rollers cut down on heat styling time too.

5. Switch Up Your Part

If you wear your part in the same place all the time, it will tend to lie behave itself and lie flat. Challenge your locks and get instant volume by creating a part where it does not naturally exist, such as a deep side part, or rocking a Lara Worthington-style flip. If your hair baulks at the idea, sweet talk it with some hairspray. Or ditch the part altogether and wear your hair back off your forehead for a change.

6. Rethink Your Cut

A clever chop with some strategically placed layers can do wonders for making fine hair appear thicker. It’s important to think realistically about your lifestyle, too, and opt for a style you can master as home.

7. Sleep in a Bun

Pop those damp locks in a loose bun, using a scrunchie (nothing too tight as you don’t want kinks), then catch some zs. You’ll wake up with naturally lifted locks, without the need for harsh heat styling.

8. Use Dry Shampoo Between Washes

Dirt and grease is the nemesis of volume, so keep it at bay on those in-between-wash days with a handy can of dry shampoo. Even on clean days, a quick upside down blast on the roots will add instant volume.

5 Hot Celeb Hair Trends We're loving Right Now

If you’re thinking of switching things up with a fresh hairstyle for autumn, look no further than the latest crop of celeb ‘dos. Just look to some of the coolest leading ladies in town – Olivia Wilde, Kate Mara and Dianne Kruger – for pointers on rocking this modern, kinda grungy ‘do. Whether straight like Wilde’s or crinkly like Kruger’s, texture, ‘tude and natural roots are essential to own this on-trend crop.

(DIANNE KRUGER - image credit: Kathy Hutchins / Shutterstock.com)

CLASSIC PIXIE

If you’re looking for something more timeless and are blessed with exquisite bone structure, let Michelle Williams be your style spirit animal. At this year’s Oscars, the diminutive actress made a big statement with her shortest, blondest take on the pixie yet. To get the look, ask for an ultra-short version with feathery fringe in the colour du jour: platinum.

(MICHELLE WILLIAMS - image credit: Tinseltown / Shutterstock.com)

SEXY SHAG

This is one hair trend that isn’t going anywhere! Julianne Hough and January Jones are just two of the latest lovelies to get a good shagging, joining the ranks of Taylor Swift, Chloe Moretz and Hailey Baldwin. The 70s’ chop works for most hair types and face shapes and it’s low maintenance to boot. Winning! (We especially love January’s take with the cute choppy fringe.)

(CHLOE MORETZ - image credit: Joe Seer / Shutterstock.com)

EDGE PIXIE

Before she joined K-Stew in the badass buzz cut club, Katy Perry took inspo from fellow sasspot Scarlett Johansson, and debuted a short and edgy pixie that we totally dug. Super-short in the back with longer, lighter layers on top, it’s a surprisingly versatile style made famous by our favourite wild child, Miley. Not for shrinking violets.

(SCARLETT JOHANSSON - image credit: Tinseltown / Shutterstock.com)

BLUNT BOBS

It seems we just can’t shake those lobs! And although it can be hard to track those Kardashian/Jenner hair changes, Kim and Kendall’s latest chops have us swooning. In fact, we’re loving bobs of all lengths on chocolate and raven-haired beauties right now, especially styled poker straight and glossy. Another gorgeous option? Penelope Cruz’s retro version with a Bardot-esque fringe.

(KIM KARDASHIAN - image credit: Tinseltown / Shutterstock.com)

5 Things You Need to Know Before Going Blonde

Being blonde might be more fun, but anyone who’s dallied with drastically lightening their ‘do will tell you it’s not without its pitfalls. And there are definitely a few things you should know before attempting life as a fair maiden! Read these, or (potentially) weep.

Different shades suit different babes

Crushing on Reese’s champagne tresses or Michelle Williams’ angelic platinum? Grab a piccie and head straight to your colourist. But make sure you’re willing to budge on your desired shade!

When choosing YOUR perfect blonde hue, you’ve got to remember your skin tone. And this doesn’t just mean whether you are pale, olive or deeply bronzed. Your undertone is super important too.

Confused? If you have a ‘cool’ undertone, you’ll have bluey veins in your wrists and look better in white; if ‘warm’ you’ll have green-looking veins and rock a cream t-shirt like nobody’s business. While cool tones look great with creamy pale and ashy blondes, warmer tones suit a richer, golden retriever mane, and lucky neutral babes (whose veins aren’t clearly blue or green) look great with most colours. Take the expert advice of your colourist and, if in doubt, dabble with highlights first.

You’re about to become higher maintenance

Bad news for your boo – colour-treated blondes need loads of TLC. So you’ll be hogging the bathroom for longer each morning. Oh, and all this extra upkeep comes at a price…

As well as regular dates with your colourist (every five weeks-ish), you’ll need to invest in a hydrating shampoo and conditioner to keep your locks happy and healthy, plus a toning shampoo to banish brassiness. A nourishing mask should be used once or twice weekly to strengthen weakened strands. And heat styling should also be cut back (sorry), and only ever attempted with top notch protection.

You might need a wardrobe change

Any time you change your hair colour, there’s a chance you’ll need to pony up for some new clothes and cosmetics. You’ll possibly feel a little washed out after lightening up, and your go-to nude lippie might not work anymore. So make sure you’ve stashed some cash aside to complete your mini makeover. It’s half the fun of a colour change!

You’ll get loads of attention

Going blonde isn’t all hassle! Sure, you might cop a few blonde jokes, but you’ll also turn heads. Guaranteed.

Beware the swimming pool

What’s going to turn heads for the wrong reasons? Bleached hair that’s gone green after hitting the local pool! Chlorine is usually named as the culprit, but it’s mainly the copper found in pools (and hard water from your shower) that creates the slimy tint.

The best offence is defence, so make sure you’re giving your newly minted blonde locks plenty of love. The healthier your hair and stronger your cuticle, the less copper deposits you’ll pick up!

Make sure you drench your hair with water before diving in so less of the pool water is absorbed. Add some conditioner for extra protection if you like, and always rinse your hair once you’re back on dry land.

Your Pure Hair Food blonde essentials

7 Steps to Healthy, Happy Hair

We all want glossy, traffic-stopping locks, but the 9-to-5 grind and bad hair habits can quickly leave our ‘dos a little dull. Thankfully, healthy hair is just seven simple steps away. Read on to shake off bad hair days for good!

Munch on healthy fats

Skip the refined and high-sugar rubbish in favour of a well-balanced diet of nutritious wholefoods – think fruit and veg, protein sources like eggs, lentils and chicken, and healthy fats. The essential fatty acids found in foods including salmon, avocado and nuts aren’t just good for maintaining supple skin. They put the glo in glossy hair.

Take a supplement

For Disney princess locks, a supplement with ingredients like silica, iron and biotin (Vitamin H) could give you a bit of a boost. There are dozens of hair supps out there these days, so talk to your pharmacist about the best option for you.

Mask up

Next time you apply a hydrating sheet mask to your face, remember to give your hair a little love as well. Make double masking a weekly ritual, choosing a lush hair mask that lightly hydrates or repairs damage with a hit of protein. Apply to clean, wrung out hair and, for optimal penetration, wrap your noggin in a warm towel for at least 10 minutes. Blissorama.

Don’t be a bore

Not only is sticking to the same top knot everyday boring, it’s hella bad for your hair. Tight hair ties applying pressure to the same spot ALL THE TIME can weaken and fray the hair. Too much pressure on the scalp’s not great for hair health either, so loosen up a little and experiment with your look.

Give your hair a break from heat styling

We’re not saying you have to ditch your GHD altogether (what kind of savages do you think we are?!), just that a few days away from the heat styler is never a bad idea. Our favourite no-fuss way to get easy, breezy waves is to twist damp hair into a loose bun and sleep in overnight.

Use protective prods

But if you do need to blow dry or iron, for the love of Kate Moss make sure you use protection!

Have regular trims

We know it can be a pain dragging yourself to the hairdresser every six to eight weeks, and that it seems totally counterproductive if you’re trying to grow your hair. But regular trims are non-negotiable for healthy, happy hair. Because, let’s face it, there’s nothing that ruins mermaid lengths quite like ugly split ends.

Top 5 tips for Healthy Summer Hair

From avoiding frizz to quenching your locks - here are Pure Hair Food's top 5 tips to keep your hair healthy this summer.#1 INVEST IN A GOOD QUALITY CONDITIONER - Conditioner for your hair is like water for your body, especially in the summer months.
